The deadline for Clubs to submit their winning essay to the District Chair is February 28. Club Contest entrants will be notified of their status between March 1 and March 15. District entries are judged and submitted to the Optimist International Programs Department no later than April 15, 2020.

Essay Contest This contest sponsored by Optimist International each year presents young people with the opportunity to write about their opinions regarding the world in which they live. Entrants must be under the age of 19, not yet have graduated from high school or the equivalent before the end of the school year, and must be educated in the United States, Canada or the Caribbean.
In order to apply for the Optimist International Essay Contest, the applicants need to approach their local Optimist Club, which will decide their essay submission deadline dates individually, usually around February each year. The essay needs to be in 700-800 words, with a separate title page on top.
JUDGING DEADLINES. Entries to the Arlington Optimist Club must be submitted by January 25. Please send or hand-carry essays to Erica Burson, 1816 N. Van Buren Street Arlington, VA 22205. Club entries are judged and submitted to the District Essay Chair by February 28.

Optimist International Essay Contest deadline is February 28 Is your Optimist Club sponsoring the Optimist International Essay Contest this year? We sure hope so. The scholarship contests are a simple way to be a friend of youth for they provide a platform for students to share their thoughts and goals.
The local Hallie Optimist Club supports several Optimist International Programs: Childhood Cancer Campaign, Essay Contest, Youth Appreciation, Respect for Law, and Youth Safety. The Club also holds an annual safe Halloween Party, awards scholarships, and raises funds through Breakfasts with Santa and the Easter Bunny, and, new this year, a Golf Tournament and Ball Drop.

The Optimist International Foundation and the Canadian Children’s Optimist Foundation will continue to support the OI Mission strongly during this time of crisis. Both Foundations will continue to fund scholarships for the Oratorical, Essay and Communications Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs, Club Grants, Children’s Health and Wellness Grants and more.
